To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

Lewis B. Smedes

One of the most difficult things that we struggle with is forgiveness. When you are creating your own magic, forgiveness is essential because sometimes we hold on to so many emotions, thoughts, and paradigms simply because we were unable to forgive.

And all that does is holding you back from creating your own damn magic. A lot of people think that forgiveness is actually weakness, and that if we forgive we are actually supporting the behavior that caused us pain, when in reality, by not forgiving you are simply holding onto the pain.

Before we can forgive one another, we have to understand one another.

Emma Goldman

True forgiveness is to find understanding within yourself that nobody is perfect, and that everyone makes mistakes, not everything is personal, and not everything is intended to hurt you. It’s the understanding that you need to take responsibility for your actions, and leave the actions of others to their responsibility. It’s the strength to learn the lesson from the pain, keep the lesson, and let go of the pain.

Forgiveness isn’t approving what happened. It’s choosing to rise above it.

Robin Sharma

Most importantly, a lot of people think that forgiveness is being lenient to the person that hurt you when in reality, forgiveness isn’t at all for the other party that might have caused you pain. Forgiveness is about yourself and restoring peace to your own soul. And although it is hard to do it, it’s absolutely necessary for creating your own damn magic.

So, forgive gorgeous, others, and yourself as well, take the lesson, and let go of the pain, so that you can always be your most magical self!

I think the first step is to understand that forgiveness does not exonerate the perpetrator. Forgiveness liberates the victim. It’s a gift you give yourself.
