In a major shift that supports positive changes and breakthroughs, but also requires us to adapt to a flurry of intense energies, we’ve gone from six to two retrograde planets in less than two weeks.

The Aries Full Moon on the 20th amplifies this newfound sense of freedom, but challenges us to find healthy ways of expressing our raw emotions, especially in relationships or in our connections with authority figures. Anger, frustration, but also passion and initiative can reach an all-time high during a Full Moon that shows the results of how boldly we’ve asserted ourselves in the past months... and reveals power imbalances that still need to be solved.

Full Moon in Aries: October 20

Are you ready to move things forward? October hasn’t been an easy month so far, but we’re going through some immensely supportive energy shifts that help us pave the way toward being more authentic, nurturing our soul’s purpose, and finding balance in our relationships.

If the start of October was heavy with six retrograde planets, by the time the Moon is full in the passionate sign of Aries, we only have two retrogrades left! This is a moment of fulfillment and release that prepares us to move with full speed ahead during the rest of this autumn.

With lucky Jupiter stationing direct, this Full Moon’s vibe is mostly joyful and expansive. The energy of this moment can be great for challenging ourselves, believing in the impossible, and enjoying new adventures. As a wrap-up, we’re now able to see results in the life area ruled by Aries in the birth chart and, in a more general sense, in any activity that required our passion, courage, and initiative in the past six months.

Notice how you feel at this time. Are there any situations where you wished you were bolder and listened to your instincts more? Frustration or anger can hold important messages about what boundaries have been crossed and what insecurities you need to let go of to move forward with more authenticity. Remember that mistakes are an opportunity to learn and to improve.

Are you happy with your past actions? Now is the perfect time to reap the rewards and to celebrate!  Expansive Jupiter can bring beautiful results in those areas where we’ve been bold, courageous, and ready to take the lead.

With Mercury recently direct in Libra, the sign of relationships, and Jupiter stationing direct in Aquarius, the sign of friendships and groups, this Full Moon supports us to find our place in the community and to nurture ways of expressing ourselves boldly while also staying mindful of social rules, regulations, and other people’s sensitivities.

It’s essential to reflect on how we are as a part of our pack and how we take responsibility for our actions at this time. Ideally, we’re finding ways to honor our instincts and to take the lead not against, but together with those around us. Everybody can win!

In relationships, we might need more freedom at this time and we might be challenged to keep a healthy sense of self as we move forward in the connections that matter to us… or leave some toxic situations behind.

The Full Moon’s square with Pluto might bring up themes linked to inequality, power distribution, and past wounds in our relationships, supporting us to make healthy choices and to invite positive transformation in our lives. Working with our inner child – especially our spontaneous, playful, or angry side – could be particularly fruitful at this time.

Those of us with strong Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn energy will feel the energizing and expansive effects of this Full Moon the most, but all of us are supported to celebrate, allow, release, and let go in the area ruled by Aries in the birth chart.

Full Moon Journal Prompts:

  • How have I been standing up for myself and taking action in the past six months?
  • How can I celebrate myself and recognize how much I’ve grown?
  • What message do my raw instincts and emotions have for me at this time?
