For today we have yet another awesome book for you! We thought since you are having a fresh start, a New Beginning, we should stir you in the right direction with this book – The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to be and Embrace Who You Are.
Brown in this book shows you how broken our perspective on reality can be. Surrounded by perfect women on the covers of every magazine, by people that pretend their lives are perfect you often feel the need to hide as well and pretend to lead a perfect life. But as it turns out in life, something has to budge, you can’t be perfect all of the time.
Juggling between work, family, friends, love life, social life, hobbies, interests and being healthy all the while doing that is a very hard, almost impossible tasks that take more than it gives. The stress of it all always catches up. And that’s not even the worst part. It’s the mindset behind these actions. All the while you do this, there is a simple thought that urges you to lead such a life – “What will people think of me?”
In this wonderful book, Brown shatters that false perspective we build and helps you discover yourself, to acknowledge that even though your life is not perfect, you are enough. She helps you through her guidelines to change your mindset from “What will people think of me?” to “I am enough and I don’t care what people think of me.” There is good and bad in life.
The dark does not destroy the light; it defines it. It's our fear of the dark that casts our joy into the shadows.
