Write It Into Being • New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo

Welcome back, magic maker 🦁

The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo arrived on August 12th at 1:36 PM ET, at 20°01 Leo, and she did not come to whisper.

She landed conjunct the South Node, opposing the North Node in Aquarius, trine Saturn in Aries. She arrived during the tail end of the Lion's Gate portal, while a meteor shower streaked the sky above us. She carried a Sabian Symbol about chickens flapping too hard to fly. And she opened only the second chapter of a brand new eclipse story, one that will keep unfolding for the next year and a half.

This was a big, loud night in the sky. But the lesson underneath it was quiet. It was not about the spotlight. It was about what gets built after the spotlight fades.

✨ About This Eclipse

🌑 New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo 🗓 August 11 & 12, 2026 🔥 Sun and Moon at 20°01 Leo 🌑 Conjunct the South Node 🌟 Opposing the North Node in Aquarius 🪐 Trine Saturn in Aries 🦁 Riding the tail of the Lion's Gate 🌠 Crossing a meteor shower

A regular New Moon is a quiet planting season. You set an intention, and it grows on its own time. An eclipse does not ask permission. It sets fate in motion. It brings endings that arrive on their own schedule, and realizations that land before you're ready. This was that kind of New Moon.

🔥 The Astrology Deep Dive

This eclipse landed at 20°01 Leo, and the most important thing about that degree is what story it's telling.

This was only the second eclipse in a brand new series. The first was February 17, 2026, a Solar Eclipse at 28° Aquarius. That eclipse cracked open the door. This one, conjunct the South Node in Leo, walked us through it. Over the next year and a half, this cycle will keep asking the same question, again and again, through eclipses in February 2027, August 2027, and January 2028, before it finally closes out in 2028.

Conjunct the South Node, this eclipse pointed straight at the patterns we're ready to release. Leo's shadow side is a hunger for the win to be witnessed, for the applause to make it count. Opposing that, the North Node in Aquarius pulled toward something else entirely: chosen community, shared vision, belonging that doesn't require being the main character. And trine Saturn in Aries, this eclipse got something rare. Saturn wasn't here to block anything. It offered structure. A container sturdy enough to actually hold what's being built.

The Sabian Symbol for this degree says the rest. Intoxicated chickens, dizzily flapping their wings, trying to fly. Not birds who'd done the work to earn flight. Birds drunk on something, reaching for the spectacular moment before they'd built what could actually hold them up. This eclipse asked all of us the same question: where have you been flapping, and where are you actually ready to fly?

🌊 Also This Eclipse Season: Closing the Virgo/Pisces Chapter

While Leo and Aquarius are just getting started, another story is finishing.

Since September 2024, we've been living inside a Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycle, a long lesson in the tension between control and surrender, precision and trust, doing the work and letting go of the outcome. That cycle's final eclipse is a Lunar Eclipse at 4° Pisces, landing August 27 and 28.

So this eclipse season, we're standing in a rare doorway. One foot is closing out a lesson in surrender. The other is stepping into a lesson about what we build together. Both are asking something similar: put down what you were performing for other people, and get honest about what's actually true for you.

If you want to close that chapter with us, we'll be gathering for the Full Moon Eclipse in Pisces on August 27th and 28th.

🌙 The Moon Through the Houses

This eclipse at 20°01 Leo activated a different house for everyone, and that house is where the story landed.

1st — identity is under the light. Something about how you present yourself is being rewritten, from performance to something more real. 2nd — resources and self-worth are activated. What do you value that has nothing to do with being praised for it? 3rd — voice and daily conversations are lit up. What are you saying just to be heard, versus what you actually mean? 4th — home and inner foundation are illuminated. What does your private life look like when no one's watching? 5th — creativity and self-expression, Leo's natural home. What do you create for the joy of it, not the applause? 6th — daily routines and work are lit up. Where are you working for recognition instead of for the work itself? 7th — relationships and partnerships are illuminated. Are you showing up as a co-star, or still trying to be the only lead? 8th — deep transformation and shared resources. What are you finally ready to stop controlling? 9th — beliefs and philosophy are shifting. What have you outgrown believing about yourself? 10th — career and public life are in the spotlight. What do you actually want to be known for? 11th — community and future vision, Aquarius's natural home crossing your chart. The collective calling gets loud here. 12th — the hidden and unconscious. Something quiet is asking to be witnessed, even if it's just by you.

🃏 The Cards

We opened the way we always do. Online, each person was pulled an individual card. In person, cards were flipped at each seat. Everyone shared their name and whatever came up, and the room, in both formats, held more than expected on a night this loud in the sky.

Then we moved into the astrology, and from there, into the real work of the night.

Instead of a single wish, we built something with more structure. Using Tesla's 369 method, everyone distilled one intention, not a wish list, but one present tense sentence about who they need to become to hold what they're building. Not "I want," but "I am." We wrote our first Round of 3 together, slow, letting it land.

In person, everyone left with a small take-home kit: a folded booklet for the week ahead, a candle, a crystal, a surprise incense, and a pen. Online, the practice continues in their own journals. Each day for seven days, the rounds continue: 3, then 6, then 9, until the sentence stops feeling like a hope and starts feeling like a fact.

🦁 A Closing Reflection

Leo eclipses can trick you into thinking the goal is the spotlight. The applause. The moment everyone turns and looks.

That was never actually where the magic was.

You showed up on a night the sky was doing several things at once: a portal closing, a meteor shower falling, an eclipse cracking something open. And instead of performing for it, you sat down and did the quiet work. You wrote a sentence about who you're becoming, three times, and meant it.

Seven days from now, you won't just have hoped for this. You'll have built it.

That's the whole lesson.
