God is Good: Feed Your Soul with Trish
•Posted on March 24 2016
Trish Gordon is a woman with an amazing faith. Every word or idea that flows from one of our very own blog contributors stems from her connection with God and the lessons she has learned from the Word. Trish is a collection of paradoxes in one body; an awakened spirit. She is walking this Earth in the pursuit of growth, truth, love and enlightenment through her experiences, education and divine revelations. We are so inspired by her dedication to her faith and how she can get herself through any problem through that alone! Not to mention, her routines for bringing herself back up after falling down seem to be very helpful. Taking notes. Trish's soul food is simple: devotion.
Are there any consistent activities or rituals you do to maintain a sense of inner peace? Devotional thank you to God, prayer, mediation and music.
When you are in an emotional rut, what are your go to ways to bring yourself out of that feeling? Listening to my audio bible, showering and asking the water to wash away my worries or stress and dancing to positive music.
Before beginning a creative process, what type of preparation do you normally undertake? I watch a creative movie or read a creative piece. Clean my creative space and clear my mind.
Describe a time you underwent a particularly stressful situation and what measures you took to move through that process. I was having an increasingly stressful few days a week ago and so I just took 24 hours to embrace the stress and feeling of depression. I inventoried why I was feeling the way I was, determined what was in my control and outside my control, decided to accept what the reality was for those things out of my control and made plans for those in my control. I mediated twice a day for the next two days then listened to the audio version of the New Testament after praying and then woke up the next day a completely different person - refreshed and light.
Is there a particular genre of music that brings you calm? Songs by The Script and The Fray for calm, and then an African song called "God Is Good Oh" to uplift my spirit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s1LJbzRulM
What is the most inspiring book you have ever read? Kindred by Octavia Butler from a creative perspective, but Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch from a spiritual perspective.
Are there any particular exercise routines or practices that you use for grounding? If so, describe how you discovered them. Practicing making yourself only dwell on a negative energy for 24 hours and then let it go. Tell this to yourself and practice it all the time. If you dont know how to let it go - tell yourself, 'I will feel like this for 24 hours and then it will pass' outloud. Go running after 24 hours and recite that the energy is leaving your body with every step and sweat.
Do you meditate? If so, how did you learn and what methods do you use often? Yes, I prefer dwelling on the Word but meditation helps a lot during the hustle and bustle of the day so I now use "Buddhify" from the app store.
What’s your favorite motivational youtube or Netflix video? JOYOUS CELEBRATION 13 - UCHE - MY GOD IS GOOD
