Today’s Feed Your Soul post features Sarah Elliot, a native New Yorker with an appetite for travel. As a Harvard Business School graduate, Sarah is no doubt a devoted corporate juggernaut navigating and exploring all areas of life with an open heart and an open mind. What feed’s Sarah’s soul? Her wanderlust, meditation, and the great outdoors.

Are there any consistent activities or rituals you do to maintain a sense of inner peace? Walk in nature (particularly near the ocean), meditate, breathe deeply, and exercise.

When you are in an emotional rut, what are your go to ways to bring yourself out of that feeling? I typically need to get out of my head, so I'll do things (usually outside) that take my mind off things and bring me into the present moment.

Before beginning a creative process, what type of preparation do you normally undertake? Inspiration and relaxation are key to my creativity, so I typically travel when I can for inspiration and then spend time in solitude.

Describe a time you underwent a particularly stressful situation and what measures you took to move through that process. I feel like I am constantly faced with stressful situations. At this point, I have perspective and know that all things pass in time. Tactically, I typically workout, get a massage, or spend time alone relaxing or with friends.

Is there a particular genre of music that brings you calm? Smooth sounds, R&B.

What is the most inspiring book you have ever read? Eat, Pray, Love; A New Earth; The Power of Now.

Are there any particular exercise routines or practices that you use for grounding? If so, describe how you discovered them. I found them through trial and error. Any exercise that brings me into present consciousness (typically intense workouts) or enables me to mind/body connect keeps me grounded…so yoga, spin (soul cycle), and interval training.

Do you meditate? If so, how did you learn and what methods do you use often? Yes, I love Deepak Chopra's 21 meditation challenges. I took a mindfulness meditation course several years ago and started to develop my practice from there. I like guided meditations, Sanskrit mantras, and visual mediations.

Who is the most inspirational person you have ever met, and what did they reveal to you that never left you? I met a man who was blind on a plane a few years ago who happened to live a few blocks away from me. We instantly became besties and he's had a profound impact on my life. He taught me that the capacity for greatness extends far beyond the five senses. Through him I truly understood that at the soul level we are all one.
