New Moon in Cancer Workshop Recap

Waiting for the Sailboat • New Moon in Cancer
Welcome back, magic maker 🌊⚓
The New Moon in Cancer arrived on July 14th, and it did not ask us to hurry toward anything. It asked us to stand on the shore and trust the tide.
This was a quiet moon with a loud sky around it. Mercury was still retrograde. Saturn was pressing in from a square. And thirteen days later, the Lunar Nodes were getting ready to change signs for the first time in a year and a half. A lot was moving. And still, the instruction from the sky itself was: wait. Watch. Trust what's already on its way.
That is not passive. That is its own kind of magic.
✨ About This New Moon
New Moon in Cancer
🗓 July 14, 2026
🌑 Moon at 21°59' Cancer | ☀️ Sun in Cancer
☿ Mercury Retrograde · conjunct the New Moon · in Cancer
□ Moon square Saturn in Aries · old safety vs. real structure
A New Moon happens when the Sun and Moon sit in the exact same place in the sky. Nothing is illuminated yet. Everything is seed, not sprout. This is the moment for planting quietly, before there is any proof that something is growing.
In Cancer, the Moon's own home sign, that planting happens at full strength. Nothing about this energy is filtered or translated. It is nurture, memory, and emotional truth, undiluted. And because this was also a supermoon, whatever got planted on July 14th landed a little bigger and a little closer than usual.
🪐 The Astrology Deep Dive
This New Moon fell at 21°59' Cancer, in the sign's third decan, the part of Cancer most concerned with lineage, memory, and the long emotional view. This was never a New Moon about pulling a brand new idea out of thin air. It was about finally naming something that had been quietly forming for a while.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree says it plainly: a woman awaiting a sailboat. Picture her on the shore. She is not rowing out to meet it. She is not pacing the sand. She is standing in trust, watching the horizon, letting what is coming arrive in its own time. That image carried the whole workshop.
Two aspects shaped how the night actually felt. Mercury retrograde sat conjunct the New Moon, still moving back through Cancer, which meant the intention everyone planted was not new. It was something already being circled, finally getting spoken out loud. Revisiting is not regression. It is anchoring.
Saturn in Aries squared the New Moon at the same time, and that square asked the harder question. Cancer wants to feel safe. Saturn wants that safety to be real, tested, something you can actually stand on rather than something you only feel for one evening. What would it take to make this safety last past tonight?
⚡ Astro Alert: The North Node Shifts
Thirteen days after this New Moon, on July 27th, the Lunar Nodes changed signs for the first time since January 2025.
The Nodes are not planets. They are the mathematical points where the Moon's orbit crosses the Sun's path, and they carry enormous symbolic weight anyway. The North Node points to where we are growing. The South Node shows what we have already mastered and are ready to release. The Nodes always move backward through the zodiac, the opposite direction of nearly everything else in the sky, and they stay in each sign for about eighteen to nineteen months. A full nodal cycle, returning to the same exact point, takes roughly 18.6 years.
North Node in Pisces, which just closed, spent a year and a half asking us to dissolve rigid boundaries, surrender control, and trust imagination over hard logic. North Node in Aquarius, which opens now and runs through March 26, 2028, shifts the growth edge toward community, collective vision, and bringing your specific gift to a group rather than dissolving into it. South Node moves Virgo into Leo at the same time, asking for release of over-analysis and perfectionism, and a healthier relationship to being seen.
The Nodes were last on this exact axis from December 2007 to August 2009. That window held the 2008 financial crisis and the earliest rise of smartphones and social media. The world was renegotiating, very literally, how we connect and organize as a collective. We are not here to predict headlines. We are here to notice the pattern. When this particular axis activates, the collective tends to get restructured. Worth holding lightly as the window opens again.

🃏 The Cards
We opened by naming what each of us is watching for on our own horizon, and let the cards respond to that. Online, cards were pulled individually as each person shared. In person, a card waited face down at every seat, turned over the moment its owner finished speaking. We closed with one more pull, a collective card online and a private card tucked under every worksheet in person, holding space until it was time to go home.
The cards framing this New Moon: Ten of Pentacles, The Magician, Six of Wands. Lasting security, willed into being through focused intention, and then received in full view of everyone watching. Plant now. Receive later. Let it be seen when it finally arrives.

🌊 A Closing Reflection
Cancer always wants proof before it trusts something is real. One more sign. One more piece of evidence. One more reason to believe the sailboat is actually coming.
But this New Moon said: watch anyway. Plant anyway. You do not need proof yet.
You showed up on a New Moon that arrived with Mercury still retrograde and Saturn pressing for something real. You named what you were watching for on your horizon, and you let a card answer you. You wrote your intention down and sealed it somewhere it will stay quiet for a while. You lit a candle like a lighthouse and left it burning for something still on its way.
That bottle stays closed until December 23rd, the next Full Moon in Cancer, the true six month harvest point for what got planted tonight. Let it wait. Let the tide do what tides do.
You are not stuck. You are anchored.
With love,
Shereen and the My Little Magic Shop Team 🌊⚓
