Step 3 – How to battle Stress and Anxiety?

This month we are working on getting you rid of the notorious duo that holds you back in life – Anxiety and Stress. Because all you have is the present moment, and the n1 suspects of getting you out of the present moment are stress and anxiety.

And how can you create magic unless you are working in the here and now to make your dreams into reality? Now that you have already learned the importance of staying in the present moment and why anxiety and stress and harmful, it’s time to start the battle with stress and anxiety! Are you ready? Let’s begin:

1. Meditation

One of the biggest health benefits that you can treat yourself to is to develop a habit of meditating. Besides having many health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and boosting your immune system, meditation is also excellent for stress and anxiety relief.

Best Meditations for immediate de-stressing

The power of Om – This type of meditation is one of the most famous types of all – a chanting meditation. By chanting the sound “Om” you are changing your body’s frequency of vibration – banishing stress and anxiety away.

Body-Scan Meditation – The main issue with stress and anxiety is that they attack mostly when you aren’t here, in this very moment. By practicing the body-scan meditation you will raise your awareness of the present moment, and by doing so you will reduce the causes for anxiety and stress.

Reconnecting with Nature – We all come from Mother Nature and we return to it. In these concrete jungles, we often forget the healing effect nature has on us. By doing the reconnecting with nature meditation, you will re-forge the broken bonds with nature, and let nature nourish you back to a healthier self.

2. Yoga

One of the best disciplines that you should start practicing is definitely Yoga. Through each breath and each posture, you improve your health, and most importantly – you can easily use yoga to banish stress and anxiety from your life.

Child’s Pose – One of the most relaxing yoga poses we have ever practiced. You can just feel yourself getting soothed, and all the stress and anxiety leaving your body.

Seated Forward Bend – By each breath and each stretch a little further, you can feel yourself unwind more and more.

Standing Forward Bend – We absolutely love this pose because it feels like letting go. It’s such an amazing yoga pose to de-stress instantly.

3. Aromatherapy

We absolutely love using aromatherapy on a daily basis. Whether we need motivation, inspiration or a little relaxation, over the years we have found that there is an essential oil for everything. Even for battling stress and anxiety!

Best essential oils for immediate de-stressing

Lavender – Our number one essential oil and incense after a very harsh day is definitely lavender. Especially if anxiety is keeping us up at night.

Chamomile – Soothing and nourishing, chamomile essential oil and tea can help you calm down and banish stress/anxiety away.

Frankincense – If you have been swamped with worries and overthinking, then frankincense will help you to ground yourself and bring yourself back to the present moment.

Extra Magical Tip: When it’s been an especially harsh day, we like to give our wrists, hands, feet, and ankles a little massage with lavender essential oil. It can do wonders!

4. Use its power against it

Stress and anxiety can hit pretty hard. And sometimes, they overpower you even though you tried your best to fight them off. However, you can always beat stress and anxiety if you learn how to use their power against them – it’s all about the mindset. Here are three easy steps to help you use anxiety and stress to your benefit:

Ask yourself – why now?

When you are hit by stress and anxiety, and you can’t shake them off, it’s time to change your perception. Instead of letting them do their little torturous act on you, stir all that energy into the right place. Instead of thinking “Why me?” ask yourself “Why now?”. Understanding why stress and anxiety appear to you the way they do, the times they do can help you to battle them more easily. If you are already going to spend a sleepless night, it’s better to at least be productive, right?

Acceptance

Stress and anxiety are very hard to shake off. But even in the most perfect version of reality, there won’t be progress without stress and anxiety. You should accept that stress and anxiety will be a part of your life, but never allow them to harm you. Rather, accept that whenever you feel a little stressed out of anxious it’s a sign of progress in your life, and whenever you feel like stress and anxiety is overwhelming you, that is the time to pounce into battle.

Take action

So, when stress and anxiety hit you hard, mostly you feel like you can’t do anything about your current situation. You sit, think, overthink, and go over every possible and impossible scenario and so on. However, you don’t have to be crippled by stress and anxiety. Whenever they hit you hard, try to be productive. Use their fuel, to your advantage. Get things done. And you will feel stress and anxiety reducing themselves to dust.

Anti-Anxiety and Anti-Stress Ritual

- Setting the mood is the perfect way to get started with any self-care ritual. Light a stick of Lavender Incense and as you breathe in the magical aroma of this incense, feel yourself getting more and more relaxed. Focus on your breath.

- When you feel ready, light your Healing Reiki Pillar Candle. If you have an altar, you can set it up there to reflect on it. Once you feel ready to begin balancing yourself and anchoring yourself in the now, you can begin the meditation:

Guided Anchoring Meditation:

1. Sit on your chair with your back straight.

2. Breathe in and breathe out. Feel how your breathing in fills your chest with air.

3. Focus on your heartbeat. Listen to how your heart beats inside your chest.

4. Now bring your focus over your overall body. Feel how your blood pulses in your veins.

5. Focus on how your heart and blood flow are perfectly synchronized.

6. Now, focus on how your blood travels. Feel how it’s pumped from your heart to your fingers. Feel how they tingle when the blood reaches the tips.

7. Raise your hand towards your face. Breathe in and breathe out. Now open your eyes.

8. Look at your hand and focus on feeling the tingling sensation in your fingertips. Observe every tiny detail about your hand. The length of your nails, the length of your fingers, how your hand rotates slowly while you observe it.

9. Breathe in and breathe out. Close your eyes again and put your hand down.

10. Focus on the beating of your heart. Feel how your blood pulses. Focus on the harmony of beating and transferring energy with each beat.

11. Breathe in and breathe out. Smile, because you cherish every part of your body, every part of harmony within it. Be grateful for being able to sense such synchronicity as the one your body offers.

12. Breathe in and breathe out. Open your eyes when you feel ready.

This meditation takes 30-40 minutes to complete. And it is best to repeat it daily. We hope that you enjoyed and found this meditation helpful!
