Full Moon In Aries•
Posted on October 01 2020
Moving doesn't change who you are. It only changes the view outside your window.
Two weeks after the New Moon, we’ve reached the half and the peak of the cycle: the moment when what has been unfolding until now is being fully realized. The bold moonlight brings to surface our progress from the past two weeks and, in a more general sense, from the past 6 months, since the New Moon that took place in this Full Moon’s sign.
The Moon is now opposite the Sun, with the Earth in the middle. The light of spirit fully illuminates our deepest emotions, patterns, and habits: it’s difficult to swipe them under the rug as we usually do. This is what the Full Moon craze is all about- we can’t hide our instinctual side anymore.
The Full Moon sign reveals to us the archetype whose wild side we can embody, from untamed Aries to deeply emotional Pisces. The Sun-Moon opposition can highlight extremes and conflicts in our inner being and in our lives, as Sol’s conscious intent can bump heads with the Moon’s unnamed instincts.
Depending on how things have been working out for us, be it through personal effort, divine inspiration or ideally both, this is either a time of celebration or of reconsideration. Either way, it can get intense. Try not to put yourself down for what has passed- if possible, postpone any self-critique tendencies for when the Full Moon passes, your head clears again and you can look back at the situation with more calm.
The Full Moon In Aries
The Aries Full Moon on the 1st is bound to get our blood boiling! As the first sign of the zodiac, the Ram governs our will, our desires, our stamina, and our ability to take action. We're starting October with a burst of energy- whether it's in the form of enthusiasm, desire or frustration depends on how we've been asserting ourselves in the past six months.
While the Moon is in self-oriented Aries, revealing new insights about our desires and our ability to stand up for ourselves, the Sun is in the peace-seeking sign of Libra. This month is a time of consciously seeking balance and understanding in our relationships, beyond impulses or knee-jerk reactions. This can be a challenge precisely because our Aries side needs us to follow our intuition and to do what we will, even if our decisions won't always please others.
To take things further, Mars, the ruler of Aries, is retrograde in his home sign and conjunct Black Moon Lilith. We're dealing with a lot of creative energy these days. There's the potential for self-expression, liberation, but also for conflict. We might feel the need to overthrow old structures and patterns in our relationships, finding more space to be unapologetically ourselves. It's a slow process because Mars retrograde forces us to reconsider rather than to take action, while his tense aspects with Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn can bring obstacles to our goals, either in the form of insecurities and past wounds or outer delays and roadblocks.
Situations linked to self-expression, assertion, conflict, competition, or initiative could reach a breaking point on this Full Moon, exposing our needs, our desires, our passion, and our anger without filters, yet at the same time asking us to be mindful of the way we express them outwardly. There might still be things to reconsider and to process before the big breakthrough. Bold decisions are best made with a lot of awareness and contingency planning.
What scenarios are unfolding in your relationships on this Full Moon, and how are they related to patterns from your past? What do you need to let go of, and what decisions do you need to make? If you have planets or important points around the 9th degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, you'll feel the effects of this Full Moon the most.
How To Make The Most Of The Full Moon In Aries?
This Full Moon In Aries will have a lot of different meanings for everyone.
Cleanse With Sage
Like every ritual, we like to kick things off on a clean slate. Not to mention that during Full Moon’s emotions usually are pretty rampant. That’s why it’s important to settle things down energetically and take a few moments to cleanse your home and yourself. Light your sage smudge stick, and take a few deep breaths. Then envelop your tools with the cleansing smoke, then envelop yourself with the smoke.
Then let the sage stick burn for a little while more. Allow your intuition to guide you on how much you should let it burn. Breathe and calm yourself down. When you are ready, open your window, and let the smoke and all negative energy go away, since it longer serves you.
Take Notes In Your Journal
Right after your meditation start writing down things in your journal. Note down everything you remember, as best and as detailed as you can.
Drink Ceremonial Cacao & Reflect
Now that you have a lot of insight about what is going on, it’s time to make sense out of it. The cacao plant is one of the most respected plants for healing purposes, so much so that there are a lot of cacao ceremonies performed. In most, you willingly let go of something that has been holding you back, thus making space in your heart for a new, better healthier intention to take place. But it also goes beyond that, because through the ceremony you get so in tune with yourself, that you get all the pieces of you that you knew and didn’t know existed communicating with each other. It’s a beautiful healing process. As you prepare your cacao, focus on the entire process. Don’t rush it, simply focus, be in the moment. Once you’ve poured your cacao in your cup, sit down and take a few deep breaths.
Close your eyes, and take deep breaths. Focus on breathing out all the unwillingness and fear of connecting with yourself. Breathe. Feel your body, your chest, your mind getting lighter as you leave these emotions behind, and you are making space for courage, and inner knowledge. Breathe in and breathe out.
Then take a sip, and savor it. Feel the shift of energy within you.
Then take another sip, and take another minute to savor the taste and feel the energy within you. With each sip, recall something you are grateful for. Continue this process until you finish the entire cup.
Once you are done, place your hands close to your heart and say a little prayer of gratefulness to Nature for giving you this amazing gift.
Then it’s time to take notes! Note down all insight that comes as you drink your cacao, write down everything. Then compare the notes from right after the meditation, with the ones now, and dive deep into the meanings of the insights you had.
Enjoy the whole process of inner balance!
