Full Moon In Aquarius

Two weeks after the New Moon, we’ve reached the half and the peak of the cycle: the moment when what has been unfolding until now is being fully realized. The bold moonlight brings to surface our progress from the past two weeks and, in a more general sense, from the past 6 months, since the New Moon that took place in this Full Moon’s sign.

The Moon is now opposite the Sun, with the Earth in the middle. The light of spirit fully illuminates our deepest emotions, patterns, and habits: it’s difficult to swipe them under the rug as we usually do. This is what the Full Moon craze is all about- we can’t hide our instinctual side anymore.

The Full Moon sign reveals to us the archetype whose wild side we can embody, from untamed Aries to deeply emotional Pisces. The Sun-Moon opposition can highlight extremes and conflicts in our inner being and in our lives, as Sol’s conscious intent can bump heads with the Moon’s unnamed instincts.

Depending on how things have been working out for us, be it through personal effort, divine inspiration, or ideally both, this is either a time of celebration or of reconsideration. Either way, it can get intense. Try not to put yourself down for what has passed- if possible, postpone any self-critique tendencies for when the Full Moon passes, your head clears again and you can look back at the situation with more calm.

What Is The Aquarius Full Moon On August 3rd Optimal For?

The world has changed since January when we had our last Aquarius New Moon. This month, the zodiac’s trademark rebel makes a comeback through a revolutionary Full Moon that heightens our desire for change and makes way for the unexpected.

Aquarius is the sign that refuses to follow the leader and starts its own faction instead. He’s unconcerned with how others might see his unorthodox behavior and determined to make his own rules. On this Full Moon, each of us will connect to his Aquarius side (we all have this sign somewhere in our chart), so expect heightened emotions and impulsivity, and itching desire for something new, a tendency to want to go our own way and to join groups and projects that match our values instead of making choices to fit in.

The royal Leo Sun opposes a progressive Aquarius Moon, so we might notice both tendencies in ourselves and around us: living the moment versus long-term planning, living from the heart versus relying on the brain, fitting in versus being unapologetically authentic. We’re called to find the middle ground, to join heart and mind, to find ways to express our uniqueness while staying aware that we’re part of a bigger community where each one of us has something valuable to offer. Wanting to fit in while still possessed by a powerful impulse to rebel for authenticity’s sake is an Aquarian paradox that might resonate with us at this time.

Since it’s a Full Moon, we can have new insights about old matters linked to groups, friendships, social initiatives, hopes for the future, technology, innovation, or astrology. We can also see results or reach a meaningful point in what we’ve started in these areas since January. The trademark of this Full Moon is an exact square with revolutionary Uranus in Taurus, so we can expect sudden insights and shifts in our lives when it comes to our friendships, our allegiances, the need for belonging, and the equally pressing need to be ourselves no matter what.

The Moon-Uranus square can bring tension, difficulty falling asleep, irritability or aloofness, so it’s good to take our time and to do our own thing for a while, especially since those of us with planets around the 12th degree of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius might have a lot on our plate these days.

This Full Moon activates three fixed signs: creative Leo, progressive Aquarius, and steady Taurus, signs known for their stubbornness and attachment to their way of perceiving reality. If we’re feeling stuck or misunderstood, it could help to see things from a different perspective. We can activate the missing fixed sign, Scorpio, the one who faces their shadows and emerges from the depths with a greater understanding. We could transform feelings of frustration, isolation, self-righteousness, or moral superiority into openness and a deep understanding of how the “badness” that we see around us always comes from a pain that needs to be healed. We all want to belong and we all want to stand out, and these things only serve to unite us more.

All in all, this Full Moon is an electric one and it requires something from us: the courage to find a change in our lives, however small (a trine with enterprising Mars in Aries will have our backs), the adaptability to welcome the unexpected and the heart to make a shift out of loyalty to ourselves, to our values and to our vision.

Full Moon Energy Cleansing Ritual

Since this Aquarius Full Moon is all about change, and inner fights between dualities within ourselves, it’s important to strive for inner balance and cleanse so that you can process all your emotions properly. You will probably feel confused, so making sense out of yourself is a priority! For this healing, cleansing, and balancing ritual you will need a white candle and a little sage. Here is how to do it:

  • First off let’s start by cleansing your home and tools. Stand in front of your front door, and light your sage stick. Make sure you have something to put the sage on when you light it so that you don’t accidentally burn yourself. Take three deep breaths, and then start moving to your right wall and follow it, smudging your home – especially your corners. Go from room to room, and make sure you cleanse your whole home. Lastly, envelop your tools with sage smoke. Then, open all your windows and let the smoke along with all negative vibes that might be lurking around in your home or tools.

  • Now take your white candle and hold it in your hands. Close your eyes and say a little prayer to the Universe to help you and guide you on this spiritual journey of self-exploration, and inner balance. Ask the Universe to help you sort out all the good, prosperous emotions within you, and help you release all the emotions that no longer serve you. Now, take your white candle, and start rubbing it on your body to absorb negative vibes and blocks. Start from the top of your head, your forehead, the sides of your head, down your nose, your lips, your neck, and then the back of your neck, your chest, your belly, your arms, legs, and feet. Take your time, and let the white candle absorb every negative emotion.

  • As you do so, spend more time on areas that feel tight, clenched, and uneasy. Rub the candle longer on those spots.

  • Lay down the candle and take a few deep breaths, how do you feel? If you feel any uneasiness in your body, repeat the session by rubbing the candle on your body again. By the end of it, you should feel calmer; however, you still haven’t properly released and purged the negative vibes within you. So, how can you do that?

  • Next up, it’s purging negative energy time. Place the candle in front of you, and say a little prayer to the Universe, to help you purge those negative vibes that the candle absorbed by lighting it up. Take a few deep breaths to calm yourself down.

  • Now finally light your candle. Focus on the sensation of everything negative leaving you. Take deep breaths. Breathe.

  • Now focus on the flame of the candle. Focus on the movements, and where it’s trying to lead you. Absorb the thoughts and emotions that come to you. They are all teachings from the Universe and important lessons from the negative vibes that you just released. Take deep breaths, and focus on the flames.

  • When you feel ready, thank the Universe and diminish the light of the candle with your fingers.
