Dear Magic Makers,

If you feel like 2022 has been intense… 2023 will take us even deeper! This year marks the ending of two major astrological cycles and the beginning of a new age of progress and connection.

As Saturn, the planet of karma, enters dream-weaver Pisces and Pluto, the planet of transformation, prepares to shift into innovative Aquarius for the following twenty years, we’re at a crossroads between the old and the new and we’re being challenged to find meaning and purpose in the heart of this transition.

Fortunately, the North Node, a point that symbolizes destiny and purpose, shows us the way: in the bold and authentic sign of Aries, it calls us to connect with our instincts and dare to step into the unknown. Let’s find out more…

North Node in Aries, South Node in Libra: July 17, 2023 – January 11, 2025

From a cosmic perspective, our collective growth is measured in transits that last one year and a half, supporting us to process a certain type of karmic baggage and embody more of our authentic selves by developing a specific kind of energy.

In 2023, the Libra South Node brings a process of karmic cleansing in our relationships and partnerships, while the Aries North Node encourages us to move beyond social expectations and connect with our bold, independent, and unapologetic side. As a collective and as individuals, we’re being called to evolve by finding a balance between our need for attachment and our need for autonomy.

Looking back…

From January 18, 2022, to July 17, 2023, the South Node of karma is moving through soul-stirring Scorpio, while the North Node of destiny activates the grounded and peaceful energy of Taurus.

The South Node in Scorpio: Transforming our shadows

During this year and a half, we’re being faced with personal and collective shadows as the South Node, a point associated with purging and transformation, activates Scorpionic themes such as trauma, compulsion, obsession, secrecy, and control.

From the Russia-Ukraine war to Mahsa Amini’s death or the discovery of mass graves of indigenous children in Canada, this transit reveals the collective trauma that we haven’t had the resources and the openness to process until now. Scorpio brings the gift of radical honesty: before we can heal and transform our shadows, we’re being faced with their truth and called to honor our grief for what we’ve lost.

By addressing the unaddressed, we can start making choices from a place of wholeness and compassion rather than fear, breaking the curse of silence and learning to tame our shadows not by repressing them (and unwillingly making them stronger), but by gently bringing them into the light.

The North Node in Taurus: Gentleness and grounding

This process helps us move toward the North Node in Taurus, the energy that we’re being called to embody at this time. Our collective mission is to ground ourselves and stay connected with our bodies and with the world around us. The more we slow down and tune in to our inner voice, the more we contribute to the collective growth during these years.

A fast-paced life doesn’t agree with placid Taurus. His dream is that of a quiet and comfortable existence, a life where he can be close to nature and in tune with her cycles. It’s no wonder that the cottage core aesthetic has become more popular in the past year or that we’re talking more and more about somatic practices (Taurus rules the physical body) as an antidote to hyperstimulation. With Taurus, connection, simplicity, and pleasure are the main directions to follow during these years.

Because Taurus is a guardian of the natural environment, the North Node’s transit through this sign is also a wake-up call to take the climate crisis seriously. From Scorpio’s shadow of power and control, we’re being called to make a transition toward a more aware, gentle, and respectful relationship with Mother Nature.

…and moving forward

From July 17, 2023, to January 11, 2025, the South Node of karma will move through relationship-oriented Libra, while the North Node of destiny will activate the bold and passionate energy of Aries.

The South Node in Libra: Transforming our relationships

With the South Node in Libra, we’ll be going through a process of purification and release in our relationships and partnerships. Karma is at play here: many of us will tie up loose ends and heal wounds from past relationships, while some of us might reconnect with an ex if the relationship is still aligned with who we are in the present. Some connections might end, while others might need adjustments to survive and thrive.

Karmic relationships, soulmates, and twin flames might go through significant changes during this transit: the connections that we’re experiencing now are far from arbitrary. The South Node makes sure that the energy is balanced out in the end, even if the process is not always smooth.

In all our relationships, we can become more aware of subtle or obvious imbalances and inequalities. In the style of harmony-seeking Libra, we can notice if we’ve been giving too much or being extra accommodating with people who don’t accommodate us in return. If we’ve been making too many compromises, it might be hard to keep this pattern going: difficult situations can challenge us to recognize when it’s time to make a change or let go.

The South Node in Libra might bring rough patches in relationships, but it also opens up a doorway toward clear communication. During this transit, some of us might learn how to love, while others might learn how to teach others to love them by openly expressing their needs and emotions. There’s no way around honesty: this is a great time to negotiate and find solutions together.

As human beings, we have two main needs: the need for authenticity and the need for attachment. In our early years, many of us have learned to sacrifice the first one to keep the second. If we’ve been ignored or even told off if we showed strong emotions, if we didn’t feel safe to express our needs, or if we’ve been criticized and pressured to live up to strict standards, the indirect message we’ve received is “You have to become someone else to be safe (back then, our parents were our only source of safety) and loved”.

People-pleasing and self-sacrifice, the shadows of Libra, are two coping mechanisms that we’re supported to overcome in the next year and a half. To prepare for this transit, you can ask yourself if you tend to go the extra mile for others (and find that you don’t receive the same effort in return), hide your emotions, or avoid asking for what you want. How are you unconsciously trying to protect yourself through these behaviors? Is there a fear of abandonment and rejection that you’re supported to work through at this time?

The Libra South Node might help us peek behind the picture-perfect reality that we usually see on social media. Because so many people’s online presence is fueled by the need for external validation and the fear of rejection, we end up interacting with the world through a persona that might or might not be real. What is real, though, is our tendency to compare ourselves with others: in the following year and a half, we’re supported to see beyond appearances and realize that all of us are leading a life full of ups and downs, even when we tend to cosmeticize it for the camera.

Because Libra rules justice and the legal system, we can also expect a focus on exposing corruption and re-establishing balance. If the scales have been unbalanced, the Libra South Node can help us get to the root cause of the problem and challenge us to find a fair solution.

The South Node of karma in the zodiac sign of justice won’t always be an easy ride: as a collective, we’re being faced with the results of past inequalities. Hopefully, we’ll make progress when it comes to addressing institutional corruption, discrimination, domestic violence, and past and present transgressions to human rights during this transit, giving everyone a chance to be heard.

The North Node in Aries: Willpower and courage

As the Libra South Node helps us gain a new perspective on our relationships, the Aries North Node is our guiding light, revealing the traits that we’re encouraged to develop to reach our individual and collective potential. In the following year and a half, we’re all supported to become more Aries-like: bold, unapologetic, and ready to fight for what we believe in.

While the Libra South Node helps us heal attachment wounds and overcome the fear of judgment or rejection, the Aries North Node challenges us to move outside our comfort zones by following our hearts and not allowing our decisions to be overly influenced by other people’s opinions.

If Libra, the sign whose energy we need to alchemize, tends to vacillate between options and seek the alternative that is perfect for everyone involved, Aries doesn’t hesitate: he tunes in to his instincts, embodies his strongest desires, and follows them with confidence that his authenticity will have a positive impact on those around him as well.

How does a full-body “yes” feel for you? When you need to make a decision, how can you listen to your gut feelings to take steps in the right direction? How about a full-body “no”? How do you feel when someone crosses your boundaries or when an offer doesn’t resonate with you? The Aries North Node teaches us how to listen to these signals and connect with the wisdom of our bodies. Moving on from Libra’s shadow statements – “Maybe”, “I don’t know”, “Yes, but…”, Aries encourages us to become more decisive by discovering and following our authentic desires.

This transit is perfect for trailblazers, pioneers, entrepreneurs, or athletes: any activity that requires initiative and swift action is favored. When we take a step forward, the Universe is here to support our growth by bringing in the right opportunities. If you’ve been meaning to start a new job, focus on a personal project, try something new in your business, or risk being vulnerable in love by taking the first step, the Aries North Node has your back! Many of us will find unexpected sources of motivation and courage during this transit. We might surprise ourselves by overcoming our fears and taking action in situations where we’ve been hesitant before.

Because the North Node amplifies all things Aries, we might also see an increase in frustration, tension, and conflict around the world. Especially with the South Node in Libra bringing injustice, corruption, and past contracts or treaties under the spotlight, it might be difficult to find a diplomatic solution for those who allow their instincts to guide them without the filter of reason.

Throughout history, the North Node’s transit through Aries has been associated with conflict and combat. The North Node entered Aries in October 1939, at the beginning of the Second World War. Not every instance of this transit has brought a major war, but there has always been an increase in tensions around the world and a higher likelihood of conflict. In the spirit of fast-paced and sometimes destructive Aries, this transit has also been associated with the eruption of wildfires in the past.

Between July 2023 and January 2025, we can expect tensions to escalate, particularly in countries where the situation is already unstable. Especially in July, when Pluto, the planet of power and authority, forms tense aspects with the Nodes, we might go through a time of crisis and transformation. Whether we’re thinking about conflict or the economic crisis, Pluto is known for tearing down old structures and challenging us to reshape and rebuild the world that we’re used to.

What can we do as individuals during these challenging times? I believe we can help by integrating the Aries-Libra polarity in our own lives and raising our vibration by embodying positive Aries traits such as self-confidence, courage, and passion. Especially when it comes to the online environment, it’s easy to get lost in fruitless debates, social comparison, and attempts to receive external validation. This is how we tend to lose track of who we are. Even if we can’t control what happens in the world at large, our individual energies are the ones that make up the collective energy… and it’s up to each of us to heal our attachment wounds and act from a place of authenticity and courage at this time.

Our tip: because we’re all supported to embody the energy of Aries next year, working with this sign’s crystals can help you tap into your inner leader and pioneer. Meditate with a Carnelian Gemstone Sphere, light up a Passion Garnet Harmonia Soy Gem Candle, or wear a Citrine Diamond Shape Stone Pendant to activate your courage and creativity for 2023!

Jupiter in Taurus: May 16, 2023 – May 25, 2024

With Jupiter, the planet of expansion, abundance, and progress, shifting signs once every 12 or 13 months, our collective growth is marked by one-year phases of development, success, and sometimes excess in a particular life area.

From May 10 to October 28 of this year and from December 20 to May 16, 2023, optimistic Jupiter moves through pioneering Aries, amplifying our courage and supporting leaders and trailblazers of every kind.

Starting from May 16 of next year, Jupiter shifts into grounded Taurus, helping us reconnect with the wisdom of our bodies and upgrade our relationship with abundance.

Looking back…

2022 has been a great year for entrepreneurs, visionaries, and heroes: with expansive Jupiter in headstrong Aries, many of us found it easier to fight for what we believe in and take risks we wouldn’t have normally considered. The first months of 2023 continue this trend, energizing us to take action and keep moving in the life areas that we value the most.

If Jupiter in Pisces has amplified our imagination and receptivity, but also our tendency toward escapism or victimization in the first part of 2022 (with a short comeback from October to December), Jupiter in Aries awakens us from the collective trance and pushes us to take chances, break new ground, and create our own opportunities.

This transit is all about individuality and action: what makes you stand out from the crowd? In a world that often relies on smoke and mirrors, what does your true reflection look like? The first four months of 2023 will keep asking us these questions, extending an invitation to focus on what we can do rather than worry about what we can’t control.

This is the time to become our own heroes by standing up for ourselves day by day. Whether we’re thinking of major acts of courage (Volodymyr Zelenski, the president of Ukraine, became a global hero during Jupiter in Aries) or small everyday victories, we can all make a difference by moving from a state of anticipation to a phase of action at this time. Don’t worry about the long-term results just yet: the mission of Aries is to create the initial spark that leads to change. As Jupiter moves into placid Taurus for the second part of 2023, we’ll have enough time to take care of the details.

…and moving forward

On May 16, 2023, Jupiter enters Taurus, opening up a new chapter of growth and abundance: from the free, pioneering spirit of Aries, we’re moving toward the stability and simplicity of Taurus as a main source of fulfillment and success.

If Jupiter in Aries has been all about spotting the right opportunities and jumping into action, the following year helps us slow down and consider the long-term implications of our choices. Have you started a new relationship, project, or job in the past year? Is there any life area where you felt free to follow your instincts and take a chance on something new? After the honeymoon phase, Jupiter in Taurus can help your long-term success by encouraging you to focus on the details, make adjustments, and put your ideas into practice.

Taurus is the most patient and determined zodiac sign. He doesn’t like to rush things: he’s aware that every flower blooms at its own pace. Because he knows that every little effort will pay off, he’s mastered the art of manifesting his dreams into reality. This is our collective recipe for success in the following year: slow and steady wins the race.

Because Taurus rules money, our profits can also accumulate slowly, but surely during this transit. Rather than taking a major risk, we’re invited to play the long game when it comes to finances and business. With a little patience, many of us can expect good news this year! Because Jupiter expands on everything it touches in an astrological chart, he can help some of us gain more profit at this time.

In 1916, John Rockefeller became the world’s first billionaire while Jupiter was in Taurus, while Apple reached its highest-ever US market value in 2012, during another Jupiter in Taurus transit. Perhaps not all of us will become millionaires in the following year, but there’s certainly a “big money energy” being activated around this placement.

One thing is certain: in the following year, success (Jupiter) comes with ease when we feel like we deserve it. Because Taurus rules self-worth, this is a great time to work on our self-confidence and upgrade our relationship with money.

We can only receive the amount of money that we can energetically handle. For example, if we have the subconscious belief that we don’t deserve more or that money is only earned the hard way, we might unwillingly block ourselves from success. What beliefs are holding you back and how can you embrace the abundance you deserve?

Make the most of this Jupiter transit by practicing gratitude and working on your money mindset. With Jupiter, one thing is clear: when we take the first step, the Universe meets us halfway with support and blessings. Our tip: take a ritual bath with the Prosperity Ritual Bath Soak and meditate with the Abundance Crystal Journey Soy Herbal Magic Glass Filled Votive Candle to amp up your money magic in 2023!

As a challenge, Jupiter can amplify shadow Taurus traits such as greed, possessiveness, materialism, or inertia in the following year. Jupiter might be the planet of luck, but he also brings excess if we don’t temper his energy with realism and healthy boundaries. In the long term, “too much of a good thing” might be our downfall if we don’t have our values in place.

Taurus is associated with finances only because money is something that we deeply value. In essence, Taurus is about worth, quality, and significance. This is why those who feel insecure might be tempted to seek their worth in the external world and use social comparison to feel better about themselves during this transit. It might work in the short term, but Jupiter won’t stay in Taurus forever: ideally, what we’re building now in the professional and financial area stems not from insecurity, but from personal integrity and alignment.

The best part of this transit? Jupiter in Taurus allows us to receive freely and enjoy the best of life. If abundance (Jupiter) was easily found through a bold, daring attitude (Aries) in 2022 and in the first part of 2023, Jupiter in Taurus reminds us of the simple joys of life and encourages us to grow through tuning in to nature’s cycles, connecting with our bodies, and listening to our inner guidance. In the following year, many of us can reconnect with the wisdom found in quiet moments, when we slow down and dare to open our senses to the present moment.

Saturn in Pisces: March 7, 2023 – February 13, 2026

Saturn, the planet of structure, authority, discipline, and slow change spends two to three years in a zodiac sign, bringing temporary limitations, obstacles, and chances to restructure our current reality in the life areas ruled by that sign.

From March 21, 2020, to July 1, 2020, then from December 17, 2020, to March 7, 2023, Saturn moves through Aquarius, the sign that rules technology, innovation, groups, and communities, challenging us to take responsibility and create long-term changes in these areas.

From March 7, 2023 to May 24, 2025 and from August 31, 2025 to February 13, 2026, Saturn moves through otherworldly Pisces, helping us manifest our dreams into reality and challenging us to take responsibility for our subconscious emotions and auto-pilot behaviors.

Looking back…

When Saturn appears in an astrological chart, there are three keywords that we can always think of: structure, maturity, and quintessence. In addition, the idea of “limitation” comes to mind: not as a punishment, but as a tool for learning and developing resilience. From 2020 to 2023, Saturn’s transit through free-spirited, community-oriented Aquarius has brought significant changes in our social lives:

  • Social (Aquarius) restrictions (Saturn) have transformed our daily lives and our social circles, challenging us to make more effort (Saturn) for keeping in touch with our community (Aquarius). In this process, many of us have lost friends, met new people in unexpected ways, and realized how important it is to nurture a sense of belonging and community.
  • We’ve started to rely more on technology (Aquarius) and we’ve noticed how the online environment has been shifting to accommodate our needs. At the same time, we’ve become more aware of the limitations (Saturn) of remote connection (Aquarius) and we’ve started to tackle issues linked to online (Aquarius) control and privacy (Saturn).
  • Because Aquarius is the sign of freedom and community, Saturn has had a sobering impact on us in these areas: current events made us realize that our individual freedoms are not as unlimited as we’d previously thought, but they’ve also awakened our desire to fight together for what we value. We found freedom in protests, rebellions, and common projects. We’ve learned to trust in the strength (Saturn) of our togetherness (Aquarius).
  • Because Saturn rules tradition and patriarchal systems, while Aquarius promotes change, innovation, and equality, we’ve seen these two apparent extremes clash multiple times. We’ve been challenged to avoid extremes and find common ground, but we’ve often dealt with either explosive frustration with the past or rigid, fearful control in the face of change.

As we’re nearing the end of Saturn’s three-year transit through Aquarius, the world as we know it has changed. Here are a few questions to ask yourself as you think back on the past years:

  • How have I found a balance between stability and change in my life? Where was I shaken out of my comfort zone and where was I called to find routines and structures that helped me feel in control?
  • How did I manage to find freedom during restrictive times?
  • What has shifted in my approach to technology and the online environment?
  • What has shifted in my friendships? Who did I leave behind, what relationships have transformed, and who are the people who stuck with me through the good and bad?
  • What was my experience around community, belonging, and connection?

As Saturn changes signs, we’re supported to integrate these insights and lessons and move forward with more clarity and awareness around our need for connection, our call toward freedom and change, and the role we play in our communities.

…and moving forward

With Saturn, the planet of realism, in Aquarius, the sign of hopes, dreams, and visions for the future, many of us have gained clarity around our long-term plans and released social expectations regarding what we should want or do. Starting from March 2023, structured Saturn moves through dreamy Pisces in the following three years, supporting us to make conscious choices that help us manifest our vision.

Because Pisces is an elusive, slippery sign, while Saturn is all about certainty and boundaries, this is not a clear-cut transit, a time when it’s enough to hope that things will turn out for the best. Instead, Saturn carries us through a process of gaining awareness of our subconscious patterns, guiding us to make practical changes that help our manifestation process.

Manifestation isn’t all about the conscious intentions that we’re setting during meditation or journaling: a big part of what we’re co-creating with the Universe stems from our subconscious minds, where we can find powerful, sometimes self-sabotaging, sometimes contradictory beliefs. Saturn in Pisces is an amazing time to access these beliefs and rewrite them according to our conscious values and goals.

In the following three years, a more grounded, realistic perspective on faith and spirituality (the domains of Pisces) might emerge. Those of us who are used to seeking fast solutions and only focusing on the positive might become more aware of how important it is to work with our emotions and our shadow side as well. Pisces might dream of reaching for the stars, but Saturn is the one who builds the ladder that leads us there.

The last time Saturn was in Pisces, between 1993 and 1996, a wave of nihilism marked the clash between our need for meaning (Pisces) and a rapidly changing world’s failure to provide it (Saturn). If you were born during this transit, you probably know how it is to feel disoriented, confused, and ungrounded if you don’t have a context where this need for connection and significance is fulfilled.

This time around, Saturn in Pisces might give birth to a new generation of nihilists (we might notice darker, existential themes in the upcoming cultural trends), but it might also help us realize where the quest for transcendence (Pisces) can meet the real world (Saturn). These will be great years for the development of psychology, when many of us can connect with the healing power of empathy, active listening, and community. Saturn shows what we’re supported to refine and reform as a collective. His transit through Pisces highlights our emotional intelligence and our intuitive gifts.

The path he’s proposing is long, but deeply rewarding. Because the shadow of Pisces is linked to addiction and self-sabotage, the following years can be a wake-up call for many of us, a time that leads us to see what activities, contexts, and relationships are draining rather than energizing us. Whether we’re thinking about mindless scrolling, compulsive eating, or overworking, Saturn can pull us out of the collective trance and challenge us to listen to what our soul truly needs.

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself before this transit begins:

  • During a usual day, when am I making conscious choices and where am I operating on autopilot?
  • What is my drug of choice (food, shopping, social media, work, daydreaming, or anything you automatically do when you feel difficult emotions) and what is the deeper need that I’m trying to fulfill by using it?
  • Is there any daily practice (such as meditation, art therapy, a somatic exercise, or a walk outside) that I can consistently use in the following year when I feel challenging emotions such as sadness, anger, shame, or loneliness?

When Saturn shows up in an astrological chart, consistency is vital: it’s what makes the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling confident, even in situations that are out of our control. The following three years support us to focus on the practices that help us stay anchored in the present moment.

During this transit, we can navigate all things Pisces – spirituality, faith, art, compassion, and kindness – with commitment, discipline, and healthy boundaries. As a cure for Piscean confusion and boundlessness, we’re being called to rely on the structures and the healthy limits that make the difference between self-sacrifice and devotion.

On a social level, the following years can bring challenges, limitations, and eventual reform in Pisces-ruled areas such as religion, arts, humanities, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Between 1964 and 1967, when Saturn was also in Pisces, the Second Vatican Council marked a major shift in the Catholic Church, bringing it closer to the modern world and its needs. In 1994, during another Saturn in Pisces transit, the Church of England ordained the first female priests.

Even though he might initially bring resistance or hardship, Saturn’s purpose is always to restructure, reform, and deepen what it touches. Between 2023 and 2026, we might see religious reform in different areas of the world. Facing a crisis of faith and the pressure of modernity, religious institutions might be challenged to reconsider their approach and find better ways to connect with the modern man.

Because shame, guilt, and powerlessness are Piscean emotions that have often been associated with the image of a punishing, all-powerful God, the following years can challenge us to move beyond this archetype and nurture a heart-centered approach to faith.

When it comes to the pharmaceutical industry, level-headed Saturn’s transit through intoxicating Pisces will help us raise awareness around addiction and challenge us to find our own definition of healing. The opioid crisis (Pisces) will need a realistic, long-term solution (Saturn) that takes emotional factors into account. More states might allow the medical and recreational use of cannabis, while psychoactive plants might become more popular as an aid in psychotherapy.

Because Saturn rules restriction and censorship, we might see attempts at control and limitation in these areas, especially at the beginning of the transit. As we become more familiar with the energy shift, we might be able to embrace positive changes and adapt to new trends and perspectives.

The following three years won’t be easy, but they bring an amazing opportunity to deepen our inner work, overcome self-sabotaging patterns, and find a way to integrate our spiritual side with our material goals.

There is no universal solution for successfully navigating this transit, but we recommend the Future Forecast Astrology Report for finding out more about Saturn’s impact in your life and the Woke AF: A Kit to Promote, Develop & Heighten Intuition for creating a daily practice that helps you connect with your most intuitive, magical self in the following years.

Pluto in Aquarius

March 23, 2023 – June 11, 2023

January 21, 2024 – January 19, 2044

Spending from 12 to 30 years in a sign, Pluto is the slowest-moving planet in the zodiac. As the harbinger of deep transformation and renewal, he marks major cultural shifts, often triggering crisis and rebirth in the areas that he influences.

From 2008 to 2023, Pluto in authoritative Capricorn brings a process of social and political transformation that challenges the patriarchal distribution of power.

For about three months in 2023 and for 20 years starting from 2024, Pluto in innovative Aquarius will bring significant changes in science and technology, challenging us to reshape our relationship with our communities and, perhaps, to take steps toward a global community.

Looking back…

2008, the year when Pluto shifted from Sagittarius into Capricorn, found us in the heart of the Great Recession, challenging the certainties and the structures that we’d been previously used to. Capricorn rules authority, tradition, corporations, and governments. The beginning of transformative Pluto’s transit through this patriarchal sign has set the tone for a cycle of crisis and change in these areas.

Pluto rules power, Capricorn rules power – and both are willing to go to extremes to obtain it. Since 2008, we’ve seen a rise in authoritarian leaders around the world, but we’ve also witnessed a shift in the collective mindset when it comes to authority and corruption. Yes, many people have been (and still are) getting away with it, but Pluto’s call to transformation has also reached many of us, raising our awareness around abuse, inequality, and patriarchal standards of efficiency and success.

The clash between tradition (Capricorn) and reform (Pluto) has been particularly clear in recent years, when the dark sides of colonialism and capitalism have come to the surface. Until 2024, we’re still in a cycle that challenges us to reshape and transform outdated systems and expectations.

From 9-to-5 jobs and the pressure to always perform for the best results to the emphasis on status and power, Pluto highlights the shadows that we need to alchemize during these years by integrating the light attributes of Cancer, the opposite sign. Through cultivating gentleness, empathy, and emotional intelligence, each of us can play a part in the global shift that we’re experiencing, especially in 2023, when we’re preparing for a new major cycle of transformation.

…and moving forward

From March to June, 2023, and from 2024 to 2044, transformative Pluto moves through Aquarius, the sign that rules science, technology, innovation, community, and social justice. These are the areas where we can expect major changes and reforms that will change the world as we know it.

Pluto is the planet of death, rebirth, and regeneration, while Aquarius is the archetype of the humanitarian, the rebel, and the intellectual. Pluto rules power, while Aquarius rules large groups of people.

Between 1777 and 1798, when Pluto last transited Aquarius, the French Revolution (with its Aquarian motto “Liberty, equality, fraternity”) subverted the hereditary aristocracy typical of the previous Pluto in Capricorn transit. The Industrial Revolution was in full bloom (Aquarius is the archetype of the inventor, and the years between 1777 and 1789 brought us inventions such as the bi-focal eyeglasses, the parachute, the hot-air balloon, and the steamboat), while the Age of Enlightenment (Aquarius is associated with knowledge and the power of reason) brought major changes in politics, philosophy, science, and communications.

During this transit, The United States was born through an act of Aquarian independence (it’s no coincidence that “We the people”, another Aquarian statement, is the opening phrase of the American Constitution). In the meantime, in 1787, the British Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade was formed, planting the seeds of change for a more humanitarian society. In 1794, France was the first imperial nation to abolish slavery.

In short, the last transit of Pluto in Aquarius revolutionized the world: it brought major technological advancements, it shifted the focus from fear and superstition to science and reason, it empowered the people toward independence, and it highlighted humanitarian values such as equality and collaboration.

When he moves from patriarchal Capricorn into community-oriented Aquarius, Pluto always gives back the power to the people. Plutocracy, defined as “rulership of the wealthy”, is at home in Capricorn, but it can’t survive while Pluto moves through libertarian Aquarius. Throughout history, power was concentrated in the hands of a few men while Pluto was in Capricorn, while Pluto in Aquarius balanced out the scales by empowering the masses and supporting the underdog.

While Pluto was in Aquarius, Nero killed himself (68 AD), Captain Cook was killed by Hawaiians (1779), Louis XVI was executed (1793), and many other autocrats were removed from their position of power as the world prepared for a new wave of change.

From 2024 to 2044, with the period between March and June 2023 bringing a taste of what’s to come, the shadows of the patriarchal, hierarchical system we live in will become more and more difficult to ignore. Because Pluto exposes what is dark, corrupt, and rotten, his transit through humanitarian Aquarius will reveal what needs to change in our society so that power and resources (Pluto) can be distributed equally (Aquarius).

Aquarius rules meeting boards, unions, councils, and all contexts where people can meet as equals and exercise their collective power, often balancing out the excesses of one person or one privileged group of people. Aquarius also rules rebellions and revolutions. As we’re entering the new cycle, we could witness more uprisings around the world, as well as an increased awareness of how the select few only have power as long as the crowd decides (consciously or unconsciously) to give it to them.

Because Pluto is the planet of authority and Aquarius is the archetype of the self-liberated person, the following years encourage each of us to return to self-sovereignty and become aware of where we’ve been giving our power away. The influence of media and advertisements might become clearer to many of us. We’re being called to grow as independent thinkers and develop the power of making our own choices, seeing beyond the ways we’ve been conditioned (to want more, to buy more, to compete against each other) as a collective.

The most successful companies of the following years will be guided by Aquarian values such as equality, collaboration, and progress. Beyond personal profit, the companies of the future will focus on making their services accessible to a large group of people, fostering connection, and creating a horizontal corporate culture.

We might witness a new generation of transformational leaders during Pluto in Aquarius. It’s a transit that supports us to create new infrastructures and foster new ways of thinking, with the awareness that we’re all interconnected and that the collective can’t thrive when entire categories of people are marginalized and left behind. In the following twenty years, more than ever, we grow together.

As a challenge, the shadow of Pluto in Aquarius could lead many of us toward extreme beliefs and actions. We might think that the only way to create a new world is to demolish the old one entirely. An eye for an eye turns the whole world blind: during this transit, one of our biggest collective challenges is to recognize that we can’t foster change from the same abusive foundation that the old world of Pluto in Capricorn was built upon. Whether we’re thinking of extreme political correctness or radical politics, if we push too hard, we can’t avoid the rebound. Pluto in Aquarius is about finding a balanced pathway to change – and it might take a while…

Because Aquarius rules science and technology, we can only speculate the way society will evolve in the next twenty years. Just as humanity couldn’t have known the advancements brought by the Industrial Revolution before it happened, we’re also in for a surprise. Major changes in AI, technology, and the online environment will shape a different reality in the following decades. Medical advancements will keep changing our lives for the better.

At the same time, fast progress might challenge us to redefine and strengthen our humanity in a transhumanistic society. The shadow of Aquarius is emotional distance and pure reason taken to the extreme. As the world shifts around us, Pluto in Aquarius calls us to stay connected with our humanitarian values and pursue knowledge not only out of intellectual fascination, but also with the purpose of improving our lives where it matters the most.

The birthstone of Aquarius is Amethyst: in 2023, working with this powerful crystal can help you gain mental clarity and strengthen your intuition. Wear a Chevron Amethyst Bracelet or meditate with an Amethyst Sephoroton Pendulum for spiritual protection, setting the intention to welcome this new transformational cycle with an open heart and a strong Crown Chakra connection.
