Meet Laura Wellington - highly successful CEO, founder and editor of Thread M.B., author, major media blogger, Huff Post contributor, and mother of five. This impressive entrepreneur founded a media blog site, Thread M.B. that combines interviews from "Social Media Moms" (i.e. bloggers, bloggers, pinners...all widows or mothers) and interviews with celebrities in entertainment, media, business, politics, medicine, and the nonprofit world. The site works to better the world "by highlighting and helping a variety of social causes and case-based organizations -- with a special emphasis placed on widows and children." As a widow herself, Laura Wellington has created a unique take on helping others. Basically what feeds Laura's soul is her constant journey to making the world a better and safer place for all, and running is her thing. It takes someone with the most beautiful of hearts and the brightest of minds to dedicate her life to a purpose such as this and share it with the world through media blogging! Are there any consistent activities or rituals you do to maintain a sense of inner peace? Run every morning and I pray.
When you are in an emotional rut, what are your go to ways to bring yourself out of that feeling? I spend time with my children at the park, take a hot bath, run and pray.
Before beginning a creative process, what type of preparation do you normally undertake? I find myself a very quiet place, make myself a cup of tea...I’ve been known to do that. And then just start writing.
Do you have any favorite movies that always revive your spirit? Under the Tuscan Sun, Sweet Home Alabama, Pride & Prejudice
Is there a particular genre of music that brings you calm? I like an eclectic pace. But for calming, I like the harp, I love classical like Helen Long, I like country. It really depends on my mood. Aerosmith bounces me back.
What is the most inspiring book you’ve ever read? Anything written by Joel Ostein inspires me. I’ve read all his books and they always inspire me. They all have their place in my life.
Are there any particular exercise routines or practices that you use for grounding? Running is my thing.
Do you meditate? If so, how did you learn and what methods do you use often? I meditate while I run. It’s a natural thing when you run – to start thinking and meditating. I didn’t exactly subscribe to any type op formal learning – I’m more of a ‘let’s do this in a self-taught way’ kind of person.
Who is the most inspirational person you have ever met and what did they leave with you that will never leave you? Dustin Lance Black. He revealed to me the power of authenticity. It’s definitely something you have to subscribe to in life, that's how you will get to where you want to go.
