Intent is what sends a Shaman through a wall, through space, to infinity.

Carlos Castaneda

In the past, Shamans have been considered one of the most respected and important members of many indigenous tribes and communities. They were the central piece that helped the whole tribe to function together, and helped it survive as a whole.

Shamans were held in high esteem due to their strong connection with nature, and some believe they even chosen by nature to walk the path between worlds. In fact, there are many tribes that believed people who were struck by lightning received the calling from Nature to become Shamans.

What Is The Meaning Of Shaman?

If we could describe Shamans in one word, that would be a healer. Shamans possess knowledge like no other of the herbs that grow in the surroundings, which they use for healing and inducing Shamanic journey. As well-crafted healers, they were essential for the tribe’s survival.

However, beyond just being a physical healer, they were healers of all kinds - they helped dispute disagreements, they gave life advice and they helped the tribe members to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. They were considered as friends to the whole tribe, and they were always consulted in important matters.
